With the Grammy’s coming up, I thought it would be fun to see what singers are in the wine biz. I found a few with various stages of involvement from having their own wine label to owning a winery to becoming a winemaker and creating an entire lifestyle experience around wine. These celebrity singers know how to make big bold moves and with wine it’s no different.

John Legend

This guy seems to make all the right moves. He is living the life. In 2015 he partnered with Raymond Vineyards in Napa Valley, California to create his own wine label: LVE Legend Vineyard Exclusive.

He explains that his soulful music and wine are the perfect match. He has a range of wine offered under his label from Rose, Chardonnay, and Sparkling to Cabernet Sauvignon and a Red blend. The Chardonnay and Cabernet are even rated in the 90s.

Jay Z

Beyonce and Jay Z with Ace of Spades Champagne.

After a representative for Cristal stuck his foot in his mouth about the unseemly, hip-hop clientele it was attracting, Jay Z boycotted the brand and bought a stake in Armand de Brignac – Ace of Spades Champagne.

This flashy bubbly is produced in Champagne, France by a father and son team whose family has been producing Champagne since 1763. The brand offers a range of five different bubblies including a Rose and Demi Sec.

Pink

Pink with her daughter in their vineyard.

As Pink traveled the world on her singing tours, she became smitten with wine. A movie called Red Obsession inspired her to dive in further and she started studying wine to learn about the vineyards and winemaking techniques.

She decided to purchase a vineyard in Santa Barbara, California and Two Wolves Wine was born. Pink is the winemaker! Surprise! Is there anything this woman can’t do?

Two Wolves is a biodynamic winery producing Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. On the Website, she has images of moon phases above the wine description. Just scroll over them to see what action they took at each moon phase for that wine. That’s all part of being a biodynamic winery.

To try her wine, join her list and you’ll receive an invitation twice a year to purchase her wine.

Sting

Sting and wife Trudy at their winery.

Sting and wife Trudy have created an entire Italian Tuscan winery experience. They own Tenuta il Palagio in Tuscany, Italy where they produce wine, olive oil, and honey. Looking for your next vacation? Why not stay on the property in the Villa or one of the many guest houses.

As for the wine portion of their business, they offer six different wines with a few named after his famous songs like Roxanne, Sister Moon, When We Dance, and Message in a Bottle (how appropriate).

This separate site sting.wine is set up for the public to order. However, distribution is limited.

Jon Bon Jovi

Jon Bon Jovi with this wine Diving into Hampton Water.

The wine brand, Diving into Hampton Water, was born from the fond memories of the Bon Jovi family sipping on Rose in the Hamptons.

Jon Bon Jovi and his son, Jesse, launched the brand in 2018. The grapes are sourced from the South of France to make this Rose that quickly landed on the Wine Spectator’s list of 100 best wines of 2018.

Madonna

Bottle of wine at Ciccone Vineyard.

In 1996, Madonna and her father started Ciccone Vineyard and Winery in Leelanau Peninsula, Michigan (near Traverse City). The locals know the connection of the winery to this famous singer, but go to their Website and their story is very humble and homegrown.

They produce a wide variety of wine including Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Grigio, and Pinot Noir.

Dave Matthews

Since 2000, Dave Matthews has owned the Blenheim Vineyards in Charlottesville, Virginia. Although go to their Website and there is not one mention of the famous owner. They produce a range of wine from Chardonnay to Voignier along with some red and white blends.

One winery wasn’t enough, Dave also owns Dreaming Tree Wines in Geyserville, California. They offer Cabernet Sauvignon, a red blend, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, and a Rose.

Train

Yes, the whole band is in on this one. They own Save Me, San Francisco Wine Co. The grapes are sourced from California vineyards to make wines named after their popular songs. Proceeds from the wine sales are donated to Family House, a non-profit providing housing to families with seriously ill children receiving treatment at Benioff Children’s Hospital in San Francisco.

Fergie

Ferguson Crest is a small, 6-acre winery founded in 2006 by Fergie and her father Pat Ferguson. The winery is located in Santa Barbara County, California.

They offer three types of wine: Syrah, Viognier, and Cabernet Sauvignon. They’ve branded with serious-looking wine labels until you see Fergalicious on one of the wines. I can’t take it! Although the 2011 Fergalicious (named after one of her popular songs) garnered a 92 rating from Wine Enthusiast. The Ferguson’s have teamed up with a top-notch winemaker to make it all happen.
